EXCELLENT Based on 74 reviews Posted on Valerie PaulTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a wonderful tour with Ralph! I first chatted with him back in January when we started planning our trip. We wanted to see Amsterdam from a local perspective. Ralph was the perfect tour guide! We spent 4 hours cycling around the city. Even with the rain it was a great experience. Learned a lot. Thank you Ralph!!Posted on Fiona GilfillanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were a group of six travelling to The Netherlands, some of us for the first time. Ralph was an excellent guide, teaching us with eloquence and deep knowledge of the country's culture and history - its qualities and quirks. He has a great sense of humour and steered us deftly in and around Leiden and Amsterdam. He showed us things that we'd never otherwise have known about or experienced. Part of our time with him included a food tour, during which I tasted literally the best french fries I have ever eaten! He showed us beaches with the softest sand I have ever felt - who knew this existed in The Netherlands! I have given Ralph a five-star rating but if the system had enabled it, it should really be six. 😊Posted on Roxane BanvilleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ralph was a great guide! We thoroughly enjoyed his company and appreciated his professionalism and knowledge throughout our 3 day tour. He took us beyond the major tourist sights to culturally iconic locations and gave us a true taste of the Dutch experiences that make the country and its people so unique. A memorable and enriching tour from start to finish! Highly recommend!Posted on Claude JoncasTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our experience with Dutch Cultural Journeys and our guide Ralph was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we met him, it was clear we were in the hands of someone deeply passionate about his country, its history, and its culture. Ralph brought his hometown of Leiden to life with a level of detail and personal insight that you simply wouldn’t get on a typical tour. Walking through its canals and historic streets with him felt like being shown around by a proud local friend rather than a guide. What truly set this experience apart, however, was something incredibly special and personal—Ralph welcomed us into his own world. While in Leiden, he brought us to his mother’s home, where Magriet prepared a traditional Dutch meal for our group. It wasn’t just lunch—it was a warm, authentic cultural experience. Sitting together in her home, enjoying homemade dishes and genuine hospitality, gave us a rare glimpse into everyday Dutch life that no tour could replicate. It was thoughtful, generous, and deeply memorable. Our time in The Hague was equally engaging. Ralph seamlessly blended history, politics, and local stories, giving us a real sense of the city’s importance while keeping everything lively and accessible. In Amsterdam, he elevated the experience even further. Visiting the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum with Ralph was a highlight of our trip. His knowledge of the art, the artists, and the historical context transformed what could have been a standard museum visit into something truly immersive and meaningful. What stood out most was Ralph’s ability to tailor the experience to us—perfect pacing, insightful commentary, and a genuine enthusiasm that made every moment enjoyable. He struck the perfect balance between informative and relaxed, ensuring we never felt rushed while still making the most of our time. If you’re considering a private tour in the Netherlands, don’t hesitate—Ralph and Dutch Cultural Journeys will give you an experience that is not only enriching, but truly unforgettable.Posted on Elizabeth GagnonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ralph was one of the best guides our group has had throughout our travels! Over a 4 day period, he took us to various cities and regions in the Netherlands, exploring not just well known sites, but also less explored locations where we were truly able to gain insight into the culture and the people. Given his background as a historian, we were able to benefit from his the wealth of knowledge about historical figures, incidents and events that moulded the country. Highly recommended!Posted on Randan SalyersTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommend for any tour, Ralph is a great and knowledgeable guide!Posted on Kevin BrosiusTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had the most amazing time with Dutch Cultural Journeys! Ralph is an amazing tour guide; very knowledgeable, accommodating, and personable. We had a large group of 7 people and every one of us was pleased with our experience and have mentioned it to all of our friends. I wish there was a way to add another star because our experience was beyond excellent. I can not recommend this budding company enough. I will tell all of my friends and recommend that they book Dutch Cultural Journeys when they visit the Netherlands soon! Thank you, thank you, thank you for such an wonderful time. We will be back!!!Posted on Larimie RichardsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If you’re looking for a private guide in Amsterdam, I can’t recommend Ralph enough. I’ve personally used his tour services for both myself and my clients, and he is consistently outstanding. He takes such great care of my clients—making them feel comfortable, taken care of, and truly enjoying their time without any stress. His knowledge, attention to detail, and easygoing personality make the experience feel seamless. Every client I’ve sent to him comes back saying he was one of the best parts of their trip—and after experiencing it myself, I completely agree.Posted on Kat DoucetteTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. There is no one better on a Dutch tour than Ralph. I don't even have enough great things to say. He knows the people. He does all the right things. He's funny. He's cute.Posted on Alex BellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We found out about our local Dutch historian, Ralph, through Instagram, and we’re so glad we booked a tour with him. Our tour in Amsterdam was outstanding. Ralph demonstrated exceptional knowledge, professionalism, and enthusiasm throughout. The experience was both highly educational and genuinely enjoyable—something we’ll always remember. We also visited Zaanse Schans, Zaandam, and the beautiful Dutch tulip fields with him. His depth of knowledge about each location was impressive, and he made every stop engaging and fun. Ralph was personable, easy to talk to, and made the entire experience feel relaxed and special. He also recommended some incredible spots to try authentic Dutch food, which ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Overall, the entire experience was fantastic. We highly recommend Ralph for any tour needs in Amsterdam!
